Anastassia Zamaraeva is a London, UK based ceramic artist.
Anastassia first discovered clay when she was 7 years old at a local art school in Canada. It was love at first touch and it eclipsed every other medium she had previously tried. Ceramics gave her the freedom to work intuitively in a way that didn’t require abstraction.
As an adult, Anastassia took a detour away from ceramics. She completed a BA in Architecture and worked in the profession for several years before redirecting back to clay in 2019.
Currently, Anastassia works as an artist and art therapist. Her experience in art therapy, both as a client and therapist, has had a profound influence on her work. The draw of clay for Anastassia is in its innate ability to connect us to our unconscious and past experiences of touch. Her work, led by intuition and a sense of play, explores the multifaceted experience of being human; with all its melancholy, discomfort and humour.
