I built myself a well of bones (2022)

Size: 25cm x 30cm x 25cm

Material: Ceramic

Initially based on Clarissa Pinkola Estes’ retelling of the story of Skeleton Woman, this piece has grown and changed with me over the last 2 years. It’s taken on new and different meanings.

I see this woman as someone who has drive and motivation. She proudly displays the well she’s built herself. The well is built of bones of people, places and things she’s lost. She commemorates them and returns daily to drink from the well.

What kind of sustenance does she get from this well of bones? How does it help and how does it hinder?
